Monk fruit helps increase villagers’ income

May Wed 2024
Villagers were busy transplanting monk fruit seedlings at a planting base of Qianghu Village, Qianzhou Subdistrict, Jishou City on May 20. This year, the base planted 100 mu (about 6.67 hectares) of monk fruit. Now, all seedlings have been transplanted.

150 to 200 monk fruit seedlings can be planted on one mu (0.067 hectares) of land, and one seedling can bear 20 to 30 fruits, with each fruit sold at a price of 0.8 to 2 yuan. It’s expected that this year’s income will be no less than 300,000 yuan.

Now, 100 mu (6.67 hectares) of monk fruits have been pre-purchased by Changsha merchants. Villagers will continue to fertilize and weed the fruit base, and increase their income from the monk fruit industry.
